ECAASU has become a featured charity at AskBeforeCollege.com – a new online service that lets college students help high school students get their questions answered about college as well as raise money for their schools or organizations like ECAASU.
All you need to do is sign-up @ http://www.AskBeforeCollege.com with your .edu account, select categories for the types of questions you'll receive from high school students and choose ECAASU as your default charity. On top of helping us raise money to bring more mixers to cities near your school, and bring more workshops and entertainment our conference. you'll be helping high school students across the country learn more about your college and know before they step on campus for the first time that they've made the right decision.
Thanks for helping out ECAASU and prospective college students.
In order to share our experiences and get your voices heard, ECAASU is publishing a newsletter about
collegiate APA community for the collegiate APA community.
What's going on in your community? We want to know!
What should I write about?
Issues facing Asian American community at your school (~ 500 words)
Issues facing Asian Americans in the nation (~ 500 words)
Wow, this idea is absolutely fantabulous! But, I don't really have time to write a full article...
No problem, we have sections for shorter blurbs, including:
Profile of an notable alumni from your school (~ 100-200 words) Collegiate update: tell us about events, campaigns, or issues concerning your school (~50-100 words)
I have another idea? Wonderful! We are open to what you have to say about APA issues. Send ideas to
So whether you are an article writing enthusiastic, or a blurb writing extrordinaire, ECAASU newsletter has a spot just for you. Submission deadline is Wed, October 10th, 11:59 PM.
E-mail your articles to communications@ecaasunational.org.
9.5.2007: More Alumni Programs
ECAASU is proud to announce the birth of our Alumni Programs. All alums (old board members, old conference delegates, speakers, workshop leaders, basically anybody affiliated with ECAASU who is not in college) are welcome to participate. So what's cookin'?
Alumni Directory and Alumni Discussion Group: we want to provide a forum where alumni can discuss things that matter to them. Network amongst each other with the directory and help ECAASU stay in touch with our alums.
Alumni Mentorship Program: With this program, we aim to create conversations and relationships between our alums and our students. We aim to connect alumni and students with the same personal or professional interest. Students are welcome to ask questions, which will then get forwarded to relevant alums. To sign up, simply fill out the Alumni Directory form and check "yes" when asked to join this program.
ECAASU Externship Program: Sorry, nothing to click just yet. We are working to provide 5 Spring Break externships this year. Externships are short internships that allows a student to shadow an alum, learning what life after college is like.
Affiliate Schools Program, what is that? Every year, many many schools attend the ECAASU conference. However, in the end, the schools all go their separate ways and best practices are left unshared, collaboration potential left unrealized. With the Affiliate Schools Program, we strive to document each school, their APA community's challenges and strengths, and share this information with all of you at our next conference. Think of it as a "APA Facebook... for your colleges." Join our network now! Please direct all questions or suggestions to the national chair.
Also, our enthusiastic internal chair has been ironing out ECAASU mixers for NYC, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Atlanta. The dates are tentatively set as follows:
-- Sep. 29: New York City
-- Oct. 6: Philadelphia
-- Oct. 13: Boston (at the BASIC conference)
-- Oct.13: Washington DC
-- Oct. 20: Atlanta
If you or somebody you know would like to represent your school at one of these mixers, please have them RSVP. Do this soon, since space tends to fill up quick for these things.
Our talented advocacy chair is working on organizing a Voter Awareness Drive. With the upcoming 2008 presidential election nearing, it is now more important than ever that we become informed and participate in deciding the nation's future. If there are any campaigns your school would like our support, please contact our advocacy chair.
Yeah, this year is gonna rock.
